Nico loves French fries…Reads familiar? Yep, we were concentrating on re-creating some of Nico’s favorite foods to play, nothing is going to give you as much quiet play time for your buck than giving him what he likes. Anyways…I know that French fries probably do not rank very high on the list of “foods your toddler should eat”, but hey, he loves fruit and is adding more and more vegetables to his diet, so can’t fault him much, especially since the Quebecois fries are particularly yummy…
But I digress. For this one I took a slightly different approach, without sewing. For the “body” of the fries I cut strips of dense foam and then used these to measure the golden felt, cut it and wrapped it around the “fry” and glued it with tacky glue (sticks way better than your regular white glue and dries clear). With some of them I needed to do some cosmetic surgery afterwards, where I either managed to measure wrong or where I had cut crooked, just to cover the whole fry, but in the end I think they don’t look too shabby in their little fry carton!
Here is the pattern for both the foam body of the fries and the felt surroundings, if you want to make it all look more realistic, you can make some fries shorter and longer, you’ll just have to adjust the felt accordingly.
