Discovering craft scissors

Discovering craft scissors

Nico had been kind of obsessed with anything “cut cut”, be it scissors or knives (of course we would never even think of giving him any of that, I mean obsessed with wanting them), so when Valerie and her mom started to work on the storage room turned spare bedroom turned storage room turned craft room, we found Valerie’s collection of Fiskars craft scissors, you know the ones that make nicely fancy cuts and corners … Read entire article »

Marshmallow fun

Marshmallow fun

A couple months back, Nico was 28 months old, I decided to pull out marshmallows and toothpicks for a quick activity. I showed him to poke the toothpick in the marshmallow because his first instinct was to eat them, lol. I built a few things, we talked about shapes and what I was making while he ate them With the mini marshmallows he was having a hard time… …so I pulled out the jumbo ones! (I just … Read entire article »

Time with papa – Swinging in snow

Time with papa – Swinging in snow

So it is winter – what does that mean? Shorts, sun and less sweating than in summer? OK, then you might be in Texas, Florida or California, here in Quebec it stands for snow, cold, wind, snow, short days and have I mentioned snow? I have to admit that I wanted to return this particular winter, because I think that it is broken (not much snow, freezing rain all over the place and yo-yo temperatures), … Read entire article »

Window markers

Window markers

A few months back when I started looking at blogs for activities, one thing that often came back was window markers. I had never heard of them so I looked for them one day and to my happy surprise they were available here as well. Most blogs I saw it on were US based, so that doesn’t always mean that it’s available in Canada, and often even more difficult in Quebec (different laws than the … Read entire article »

Sensory bath – kitchen fun in the tub!

Sensory bath – kitchen fun in the tub!

Found this new blog the other day, Growing A Jeweled Rose, a mom of 2 adorable little girls showing us a bunch of different fun activities. One activity stuck to my mind: Sensory bath! Nico has been against baths for about the last year or so, only wanting to take showers, but lately he’s been wanting to take baths, so I thought this would be great for him! I was trying to think what kinda … Read entire article »

Off to the farm…

Off to the farm…

So after visiting the butterfly house for a good 45 minutes, we went to see the little farm on the same propriety. It’s an educational farm, where they offer tours and activities for school group, of course on a Sunday (the day we went) they don’t do those but you still can do around and look/pet the animals. So we went in and looked at the informative stations first. They had a wheat to bread, a cow … Read entire article »

A visit to the butterfly house

A visit to the butterfly house

On October 9th 2011 (so pre-blog era) we went to visit a butterfly house (the place is called Ferme Guyon and they are also on Facebook.). I don’t know how many of those exist out there but I had never heard of one before. They are housed in a greenhouse type building (sorry forgot to take a pic of the outside). They have over a hundred different species, indigenous and exotic all fluttering around in … Read entire article »

Pancake Day

Pancake Day

A little salute to our UK friends celebrating Pancake Day. I was reading  a status update of a UK blog where they asked what do you put on your pancakes out loud and Nico overheard me… I had no clue Nico knew the name in English because so far we only had mentioned them in French. He wanted to make “cake” right away, so we did! He wanted “chokchip” (chocolate chip) of course and we … Read entire article »

Valentines keepsake frame

Valentines keepsake frame

A bunch of blogging moms decided to have their kids exchange Valentines (see Valentines Day swap) and it turns out this was Nico’s firsts Valentines he got. So I wanted to make a keepsake for him of it all, so while talking about it with my mother, she suggested a frame which I thought was a great idea! I also asked all the moms to send me a pic of their kids so I could … Read entire article »
