Valentines keepsake frame

valentineskeepsakeframeA bunch of blogging moms decided to have their kids exchange Valentines (see Valentines Day swap) and it turns out this was Nico’s firsts Valentines he got. So I wanted to make a keepsake for him of it all, so while talking about it with my mother, she suggested a frame which I thought was a great idea! I also asked all the moms to send me a pic of their kids so I could match it to the Valentines (some moms do not want the photo/name of their kids online, which is fine, I respect that and it’s why you see black areas in the finished photo).

If you have 30 minutes you can make this! (That includes printing time with a finicky printer!) It’s really simple, I got a simple white frame at the thrift store, flipped the photo that was in there and used the white back. Then I just arranged them the way I thought it looked nice, rolled up scotch tape in the back of the Valentines and photos, wrote the names, put it all back in, cleaned the window and done! Printing everyone’s photos actually took longer, lol :) (I wrote the lines about the printing 2 days before I made the frame and it turned out I had printer problems and it did take me longer to print than arrange them, lol) Here Nico is looking at his Valentines frame after his nap, which was a surprise for him. When he first saw it he had a big smile, so I think it was a hit :)

If you do this, we’d LOVE to see a photo of it. Email it to us or post it on our Facebook page. We’d love to do a Facebook album, a Pinterest board and a page of your creations :)

Valerie is the creative mind behind "Glittering Muffins", stay-at-home mom of Nico, a little dynamo that is bursting with energy. He also is the inspiration behind the blog (and the name) with his keen interest in cooking, baking and, well, glitter. Valerie constantly is thinking about twists to the traditional arts, crafts and recipes to make them her own and is inspiring others while doing so. Outside of the blogging world, her main activity is Nico, with the occasional TV show (non-toddler related) and casual game here and there.

What a WONDERFUL idea! It was such a wonderful experience! I can’t wait until we receive the rest of the Valentine’s from the swap! We have them displayed right now in a very similar fashion! (great minds!)

Thanks! I got them all, I guess I was lucky :) Did you get ours? I swear I didn’t know you had them similar to this, lol. I kinda hope we can do it next year and the same can do it, would be great to compare from year to year :)

We didn’t get your’s yet. And I’m so excited to see them in person! I’ll keep ya posted!

Of course you didn’t know that we had a similar display! I just thought it was cool we simultaneously did something similar.

It would be AWESOME to make it a yearly tradition!

Weird they got theirs in England, you aren’t that far :-/. It is cool we did something similar yes :) Yearly, that’s the word! That would be really neat indeed, maybe if you suggest it to the ladies in the swap post?

Thanks for the pin, Angelique, it is not just good memory for him, but also for us, especially with the actual photos of the kids who did the craft :)

  4. I love this idea!! This would be great to do for Christmas cards too! I am so glad you got our card bc the woman at the post office lectured me about using the wrong type of stamp. =)

    1. Alex says:

Yeah, this should work for pretty much anything flat you’d want to keep. Makes it fun, because you can see it every day.
And for the card, it arrived a little late, but made it safely :)

  5. This is such a sweet idea. I didn’t know what to do with all of the little Valentines my little guy got from his classmates. I wish I had saved them to make something like this. :( Maybe next year!

    1. Valérie says:

Thanks Krissy. You can also do one if he gets Christmas cards from his classmates :)
