Paper bag cheese (paper bag challenge from Tinkerlab)
I’ve been thinking for 2 weeks about this challenge, I wanted something new that Nico could help with making and play with when done. Finally the night before the launch of the challenge I asked my mother because I was stumped. She gave me the same ideas I had thought of and didn’t wanna do. Then she came up with a cheese! Nico has a little plush mouse called “EE” so I thought it would … Read entire article »

Painting without a brush
When you think of painting, you automatically think brush, but don’t you sometimes just get bored by using a brush? Exactly what we thought and Valerie went and stormed her brain to see, what else there was to paint with and make some cool looking art. Basically all she had to do was look around the house (and with a very active toddler chances are that you will see several things sitting and laying around … Read entire article »

Sweet memories…
I had a rough night last night and a rough day so far, didn’t feel like posting a craft or activity, making us look good and perfect. So I thought I would do a photo of our past, pre-blog and remember why I love him so much even when he’s a pain like in the last 24 hours Here is one of Nico’s first photos and one of my favorite photos of him. He was … Read entire article »
Foam bead threading & sorting
I bought those at the thrift store, 2$ for the big bag, put them away and forgot about them. Organizing my craft room, I found them and had Nico give them a try. He wanted them all out of the bag at once so basket it was. I showed him how they “work” and he was on it. Look at the concentration on the left there… And stretch! This is better than the gym, lol. He also noticed … Read entire article »

Valentine’s day heart flower
When the local dollar store (one of the there in town) had stocked up on their Valentine’s Day decorations, we decided to go on a romp and stock up ourselves with a lot of heart-related craft supplies, foam, glitter, big, medium, small, red, pink, white, moulds, stickers and pretty much what seemed like half the store, lol. When we came home, we unpacked everything and Nico seemed inspired, because he really wanted to do something, so … Read entire article »

Play dough hedgehogs (porcupines)
All you need is homemade Kool-Aid play dough and toothpicks. I used the glittery leftover from our baked play dough ornaments and shaped the hedgehog for Nico. He went to town with the toothpicks He even posed for me! Variation: You could use colored toothpicks and talk about colors If you do this, we’d LOVE to see a photo of it. Email it to us or post it on our Facebook page. We’d love … Read entire article »
Time with papa – rolling cars
Sometime we forget how kids love the simpler thing, several times a week Nico loves to roll cars with papa after dinner. Sometimes maman does it during the day while papa is at work but it’s more of a papa/Nico thing. It’s great for a lot of motor skills and a good aim as well and the boy has fun doing it If you do this, we’d LOVE to see a photo of it. … Read entire article »

DIY foam shape stamps
Close to dinner time, Nico looked bored, so I thought let’s do a quick painting (he likes painting) with something unusual, looked around and BINGO! You know those little foam shapes for threading, well that, pipe cleaners and a glue gun is all you need to make those. I took one of each shape we had and tested with the pipe cleaner folded to see which length I needed for the size of his hand and cut … Read entire article »
