Quick TP roll bird (squirrel) feeder
I had (still do) loads of TP rolls, we had a little forest next door and we had bird seeds I bought a while ago for a wooden bird feeder we never installed. Nico likes all animals so I thought we would make a quick bird feeder (nothing new, not re-inventing the wheel here).
So I got some peanut butter, a butter knife (a plate) and got Nico slathering it on, he did a little taste test to make sure it was good for the pit pit (bird). We didn’t put on too much, a little more would’ve been better
I put seeds in the plate and he rolled it in, trying not to get peanut butter on his fingers, lol.
Didn’t work too well, so he tried sprinkling it on. I tapped it down for him.
We went to stick it on the branch of the lilac tree in front of the house, so he could see from the window if birds came. It was early February and it turned out it was colder then we thought so we hurried up and came back in, brrrr! He looked out the window patiently good parts of the day, but nothing…
The next morning though we got little eaters, not birds though, 3 squirrels! He was mad at them trying to shoo them away, because it was for the birds! I told him they are hungry too it’s ok we’ll make more
Now that was a bit over a month ago but he remembers and this weekend he wanted to give more “gaines” (graines, French for seed) to the pit pit (bird) so I got the bag out and opened the window since it was nice and he was still in his pyjamas.
He threw some out the window and then he started calling for them to come eat the seeds (pit pit, g(r)aines, mange) (French for bird, seeds, eat)
If you do this, we’d LOVE to see a photo of it. Email it to us or post it on our Facebook page. We’d love to do a Facebook album, a Pinterest board and a page of your creations

Your video is so cute! Does Nico speak English, or only French?
The squirrels are always stealing from our bird feeder! I actually have a pretty funny video I want to post, sometime – they get very acrobatic about it.
Thanks for linking up to Learning Laboratory!
Thanks! He speaks what he feels like, it’s a mix but he fully understands both. When Alex is home he uses more English, he seems to translates himself when he knows the word. He’ll say it to me in French then in English to Alex (Alex understands French). Thanks for hosting the linky
This is such a lovely idea – I will have to try it next winter with J and T as we love feeding the birds but there are plenty of grubs available at the moment for them here.
Thank you for linking to Tuesday Tots this week
