Sorting coins

I’m not a fan of sorting coins, I find that rolling them is tedious enough, I don’t wanna have to sort for an hour prior. So I got this system now that makes things easier. I gradually got a fun bank at the thrift store for each coin we have (6) and one for Nico.

I have them in this little 9-square shelf and ever since he’s been toddling around he’s been interested in them, for about a year now, once in a while I will give him the bigger coins (2$, 1$, 0.25cents) to put in the appropriate banks while I would hold them.

As he got bigger, we moved on to smaller coins.

Now I just leave the coins in front of the right bank or give him a handful of the same coin and tell him which bank they go into.

I noticed many skills developing as he got older, he got better with his pinching, aiming and understanding directions. Now we are working on coin recognition
