Kiwi Crate Summer of Giving

Kiwi Crate is organizing a wonderful project right now, which they are fittingly calling “Summer of Giving”. They are giving back to the community by reaching out to kids who might not normally have access to fun and enriching crafts and activities. So they’ve teamed up with a few of their favourite bloggers and charities and launched the “Summer of Giving”.

Kiwi Crate is a monthly subscription service, targeted at kids ages 3-7. Each month they will deliver a box to the child that is designed around a certain theme (think Dinosaurs, Garden, Superheroes, Space.) In each box are 2-3 kid-tested projects, which cover a range of developmental areas and subjects, including art, science, and imaginative play. All the materials and inspiration to encourage creativity and curiosity are included – you just have to supply the kid!

During “Summer of Giving”, for each new subscription ordered (one month or more), Kiwi Crate will donate one crate full of arts, crafts, and science activities to a children’s charity.

To kick off the program, some of our favourite kid bloggers and us have teamed up to donate crates to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In case you are not familiar with St. Jude, it is a wonderful institution, whose mission is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of their founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay.

Our goal is to donate 100 crates to each charity!

Kiwi Crate also has created a donation code that customers can put into the promo code box at the checkout, if they would also like to donate. Just a note: customers cannot combine the donation code with any discount codes, including “Refer a friend”.

Donation code: STJUDE

Alex is is taking most of the photos (which is why you don’t see much of him) and from time to time he will also post about some of the activities that he’s been a part of. He also acts as editor for posts, technical troubleshooter and messes around with the WordPress behind-the-scenes stuff. Other than spending time with Nico and Valerie, he enjoys Heavy Metal, writing reviews about it, football (the European kind, the one here in North America he calls “handegg”) and trying out new twists on food.
