Quick DIY fishing game
We were having a garage sale and my mother had some old fishing rods she got to sell, Nico wanted to play with them, but of course he couldn’t or he would mess them all up, so he ask to have one made. My mother got him a little branch and attached a rope to it. I thought it was a little boring, so I got a pipe cleaner and made him a hook. As he wanted to catch fishes, I got more pipe cleaners and made him 3 brown fishes and 3 black ones (those were the colors I had left in the kitchen). I went with the basic fish shape and bent them a little so they would come off the ground and he could get his hook in it. It took 5 minutes and voilà a homemade fishing game!
Options:
1) Make different colors of fishes and have them catch particular colors for color recognition.
2) Make different numbers of the colored fishes and have kids catch that many of that color and count along.
3) Make shapes instead of fishes to add to the mix and play the same as #1 & #2 but with the added shape recognition.
4) You can also do color mixing, example: catch a yellow fish and a red fish what colored fish would you have ??? if you mixed them? (you can tell the answer for younger ones) and have the child fish for the right color.

What a great way to use pipecleaners, I have a ton of them – we are so doing this. (So funny I have started to be able to recognise Nico from a tiny thumbnail)

Cool Monko, I’d love to see your version! I recognize Goblin too
Nico is so cute! I love how focused he looks. And a great idea for pipe cleaners – my girls will enjoy making the fish as much as fishing for them.
Thank you both, Valerie and Alex, for your Kira comments – fingers crossed!
Thanks, Nico is a little too young to make the shape, his pipe cleaner making are normally squishing them, lol. I’d love to see your girls version, please share it on our facebook page
Kira is very welcome and a lucky girl to have a mommy who cares so much, fingers crossed too
