FSPDT is glad to be back to share another great place we love to visit with the boys. This time it is Zoo Atlanta. We purchased a year membership this year for the first time and have been trying to take advantage of it. What a fun place to explore and hang out with the kids.
Some helpful information for you:
*Location and phone number
800 Cherokee Ave. SE
Atlanta, GA 30315
*Link to website with everything you may want to know.
*The Zoo is open almost always. Hours are 9:30am to 5:30pm. M-F. Sat and Sun til 6:30pm. They close Christmas and Thanksgiving. They can choose to close early due to weather etc.. So if you are traveling long distance a call or web check may be smart.
*Pricing- Adults $20.99 (12yr+), Children $15.99 (3-11yr). Children 2yr and under are free. For more pricing options see web.
*There is a train, carousel, and rock wall you can buy tickets to in the zoo.
*They have several places to eat with a wide variety of food. Chicken wraps, pizza, hot dogs, BBQ sandwiches, fruit, yogurt, chicken fingers… With my 10% discount for being a member 5 of us ate for $32.00 on our last visit.
*They have a few gift shops in the zoo for you to look around and cool off (in the summer) if you need to.
*Bathrooms and changing tables are throughout the park as well. And they are clean.
*Vending machines with drinks and snacks are throughout the park.
*2 playgrounds for the kids to play and a petting zoo.
*There is a lot of walking and a lot of hills. Comfy clothes and shoes are best. In the summer putting on bug spray is a good idea. If you suffer from allergies like myself, take your allergy med before you go.
*Parking is free-we always go early and find a place with no problem but the people coming in when we leave in the afternoon have a hard time finding one.
Welcome to Zoo Atlanta!
We love going out with our boys. So trying a membership to the zoo this year gives us the opportunity to take them to a fun place over and over again. We have been 3 times so far and each time has been fun. Having young kids (for me), it is nice to know if we miss something this time we can check it out later. We go early in the morning(9:30am when they open) and stay about 2-3 hrs. This is long enough for my 3yr and 1yr. It had never been over crowded or long waits for exhibits when we go. You could spend all day here and have tons of fun. My oldest son loves the parks and the panda bears the most. My youngest seems to enjoy it all:-) We take our stroller in but you can rent one in there. They have 1 seat and 2 seat style strollers for rent. I carry in snacks and their juice cups and have not had any issues yet. Our first trip was late spring and the weather was great. Our second trip was summer and little hot. Our last trip here in July it was HOT. They had some fans with water mist blowing in a few places and we loved those. There is a lot of shade throughout the park and air-conditioned areas you can go in to see the animals as well. Great for cooling off. These areas also have information for you and the kids to look at and some have little buttons with noise for the kids to push etc… My son also enjoys these areas and checking these things out. The first trip was just our family, the second was our family and my grandmother(from out of town), and the last was me and my boys with my sister and her daughter. Everyone that has been has enjoyed themselves. We look forward to going on several more adventures there and making new memories with our family. We hope if you are ever in are neck of the woods;-) you will take time to visit our Zoo and make your own family memories there:-) Thanks for letting me share our family trip with you in this great series Kids on The Go!
