Kids on the Go! – Westview Orchard, Washington Township, Michigan
In Michigan fall is a fabulous time of year! The colors are vibrant and the air is crisp. It is also a time for the orchards and cider mills to open their doors for all to enjoy their harvest. I have made it a tradition to bring the kids each year to Westview Orchard.
Westview Orchard is located at 6507 Van Dyke in Washington Township, Michigan. Their telephone number is 866-WVO-FUN. The Orchard is open from Labor Day to October 31 for “Fall Family Fun” … but have different seasonal activitiies throughout the spring and summer too. Check out their brochure!
Here are the fall fun activities we LOVE to enjoy at Westview:
- a unique 3-acre playground
- an outside petting farm with donkeys, goats, ducks, chickens, pony, & guinea hens
- an inside petting barn with bunnies and chicks
- a Petting Farm Pavilion where you can get up close to friendly farm animals
- a log obstacle course with 7 “boot camp” style challenges
- straw mountain
- rope mountain
- a children’s straw maze
They also have these additional activities during the weekends:
- 3 Black Holes
- Indoor Maze
- 40 foot slide
- wagon rides
- 6 acre corn maze with 2 miles of trails and challenges
WeekDAY pricing is:
- free for children 30 inches or under
- $4 per child over 30 inches
- $3 per adult
- free for children 30 inches or under
- $9.50 per person over 30 inches
We have always gone as part of a group field trip and it is fabulous. If possible I recommend going on the weekdays simply because the weekends can get very crowded. Every other year (except this one) we have been able to go apple picking. Usually a tractor drawn wagon carries us into the orchards and we get to pick a 1/4 peck of apples right from the trees. It has always been MY favorite part. Unfortunately due to the weather this year there weren’t enough apples to allow the “U-Pick” option. We did get to pick our own pumpkin this year on the field trip though!
Even when you can’t pick your own, there were many options to be able to buy fresh produce and products from the orchard … and even grab a bite to eat. The facilities include …
- a farm market
- an old Schoolhouse Ice Cream & Sweet Shoppe
- Cider Barn
- Bakery at K’s Kitchen
- Milkhouse Cafe
- The Grill on the Hill
If you do visit Westview Orchard, we’d LOVE to see a photo of it. Email it
to us or post it on our Facebook page. We’d love to do a Facebook album, a Pinterest board and a page of your Kids on the Go! :-)
If you like what you see, follow us on Facebook to keep up to date with what we’re up to!
