New Year’s Crafting Resolutions

arts-and-crafts-black-hiThe new year is here and we probably all are making New Year’s resolutions, even bloggers. We reached out into the Kids Blogger Network to see, which crafting resolutions they have for 2013 :)

Valerie of Glittering Muffins: “My new year resolution, finish all the crafts half started and post them regardless of the season! I keep working on different holiday posts and forgetting them, grrr!”

Rebekah of The Golden Gleam: “Well I plan to only post process based art on the blog and no longer have crafts bc I am redefining the focus of the blog.”

Ticia of Adventures In Mommydom: “There’s a reason I don’t post too many holiday posts……….My crafts rarely turn out the way I planned, so I rarely have that “perfect craft” picture………..”

Jennifer of The Good Long Road: “I do not have a crafting resolution b/c I do not think of what we do as crafting. I do have a parenting resolution – no multitasking — It is a biggie, but I feel like everyone in my life, including me, will benefit from it.”

Deirdre of JDaniel4′s Mom: “I resolve to do more open ended crafts. JDaniel loves those better than the ones I do and ask him to create the same way.”

Krissy of B-Inspired Mama: “My resolution: quit stopping the kids mid-creativity to take photos for my blog!”

Rebecca of Here Come The Girls: “Don’t let the twins get hold of the flour or glitter and throw it over the floor and each other!”

Crystal of Crystal’s Tiny Treasures: “Tonight I started work on a craft I began 20 yrs ago – was meant to be for my 6yo sis then, but hoping she’ll understand it’ll now go to my daughter – if I finish it,but no excuse as it should only take about 30 mins more to complete!”

Gina of Connecting Family and Seoul: “We started out doing more play activities than crafting on the blog, but that changed once the holidays drew near. My son really enjoys making things for others and is so proud of his work. I think we’ll resolve to try new crafts that can be given as gifts throughout the year, instead of just waiting until Christmas rolls around.”

Cerys of Rainy Day Mum: “I intend by the end of the year to have made everything in T’s bedroom – so far I have done the pictures for the wall out of buttons, but want to make a quilt for her, cushions for her bed, applique the curtains and I have a birth sampler cross stitch to finish.”

Becky from This Reading Mama: “To let my kids enjoy exploring more with their crafts. Exploring equals mess and messes get under my skin. I tend to squelch their creativity to keep my sanity, which at times turns into an ugly power struggle.”

Suja of Blog Me Mom: “Post more about kid -initiated crafts/activities however simple they are because they were not orchestrated and completely created by your own kid. How about you? Would you post a kid- created craft even it means just sticking a sequin filled paper triangle to a craft stick (Christmas tree btw) I love it when she says “mom, i have an idea for a craft….” It may not be fancy, but it is all hers.”

Jane of Mama Pea Pod: “Mine is to let the kids paint more often. I’ve been so stingy about letting them paint indoors since we moved to our new house! I don’t want paint getting on the walls or floors. But I got them a huge box of squeezy paint bottles for Christmas and am ready (I think) to let go of my ‘new house’ obsession!”

MaryAnne of Mama Smiles: “Making stuff out of cardboard is one of my January goals! http://mamasmiles.com/setting-goals-for-2013/ I used to make a lot of stuff, and I have a nice cardboard stash built up :)

If you do this, we’d LOVE to see a photo of it. Email it to us or post it on our Facebook page. We’d love to do a Facebook album, a Pinterest board and a page of your creations :-)

If you like what you see, follow us on Facebook to keep up to date with what we’re up to!

Alex is is taking most of the photos (which is why you don’t see much of him) and from time to time he will also post about some of the activities that he’s been a part of. He also acts as editor for posts, technical troubleshooter and messes around with the WordPress behind-the-scenes stuff. Other than spending time with Nico and Valerie, he enjoys Heavy Metal, writing reviews about it, football (the European kind, the one here in North America he calls “handegg”) and trying out new twists on food.
