Papier mâché hen challenge

Papier mâché hen challenge

A few months back Molly Moo published a picture of a very cool papier mâché Hen that she had made at her papier mâché course. This precipitated a Hen Craft Challenge which Alex & I agreed to take part in, and of course Nico helped a little and also requested his own so we have three hens for you. We printed our pattern on cardstock and I assembled them. We used basic flour/water glue for our hens … Read entire article »

Foam sheet Easter eggs

Foam sheet Easter eggs

(March 7, 2012) Easter is coming, so here is a quick toddler craft we made last year but forgot to post about. I got foam sheet egg shapes at the dollar store and asked Nico if he wanted to decorate them for Easter. As usual he picked the color of the egg and the paint, I poured some on a tray and gave him a paint brush, he wasn’t to interested so I gave him a … Read entire article »

Kid painted chairs

Kid painted chairs

(Jan. 23, 2012) I bought little wood chairs a long time ago (pre Nico) at a thrift shop, I knew I’d have kids and wanted good old solid wood furniture. So now years later, Nico was using them in their used white paint. One day, I asked him if he wanted to paint them, he was very excited, so I promised to sand them a bit (just to rough them up) and we’d paint them. … Read entire article »

Peanuts snowman magnets

Peanuts snowman magnets

We’ve gotten lots of snow this winter, but we also have been sick and we’ve also had a few really cold snaps which leads to not much playing in the actual snow. I thought we should try and make a snowman that doesn’t melt. So we got shelled peanuts, mixed a bit of white glue with white paint and Nico painted the shelled peanuts one by one. When one was done he would pour salt over … Read entire article »

Valentine’s Day cupcake toppers

Valentine’s Day cupcake toppers

(Made Jan 7, 2012)  I was looking for an easy craft Nico could do with glitter for Valentine’s Day, since he loves muffins so much, I came up with easy to make toppers. While I got the material, he decided to pour out the heart confetti and put them back into little containers. All I needed for this one was two sizes of self-sticking hearts (one is felt, one is foam in my case, it doesn’t matter … Read entire article »

Egg carton Christmas tree ornament

Egg carton Christmas tree ornament

I was clearing the recycling stuff I have kept for crafting the other day and I had a bunch of egg cartons, I thought ok, I’ll get rid of them, we won’t make anything with them, but I felt sad to throw them out and decided to think for a few days until the recycling truck passed, if I had not found an idea they would have gone out, but I did find an idea! … Read entire article »

Paper plate Christmas wreath

Paper plate Christmas wreath

(Dec 13, 2012) I cut out plates (little ones) to make snowman snow globes the other day and I cut two extra to make Christmas ball snow globes but as you can read from the title, they didn’t turn out that way, lol. Nico kept asking to do them at the worst times possible, like when I was eating but he was done, before nap/bed time or on our way out the door. Finally … Read entire article »

Snowman waterless snowglobe

Snowman waterless snowglobe

(Dec 7, 2012) I wanted to make more snowglobes with him, since he liked making the Valentine’s Day one. I didn’t want to make Santas, too many details, too much work for him right now, he’s not into crafts so much, he finds it too hard (he’s much into playing right now). So I decided to go with snowmen, since the plates are already white, all he had to do was paint a toque (knitted … Read entire article »

Easy cinnamon gift tag ornament

Easy cinnamon gift tag ornament

Remember those cinnamon Christmas ornaments we made? They were easy right? I turned one of them into gift tag for Nico’s German grand parents who are coming over for Christmas. All I did is, take one of the ornament and a use a silver pen to write on it. Done! I used a rolling ball silver marker first, it worked ok but the silver paint pen worked better and easier too. If you do this, we’d LOVE … Read entire article »
