Foam sheet Easter eggs
(March 7, 2012) Easter is coming, so here is a quick toddler craft we made last year but forgot to post about. I got foam sheet egg shapes at the dollar store and asked Nico if he wanted to decorate them for Easter. As usual he picked the color of the egg and the paint, I poured some on a tray and gave him a paint brush, he wasn’t to interested so I gave him a … Read entire article »

Paper plate Christmas wreath
(Dec 13, 2012) I cut out plates (little ones) to make snowman snow globes the other day and I cut two extra to make Christmas ball snow globes but as you can read from the title, they didn’t turn out that way, lol. Nico kept asking to do them at the worst times possible, like when I was eating but he was done, before nap/bed time or on our way out the door. Finally … Read entire article »

Snowman waterless snowglobe
(Dec 7, 2012) I wanted to make more snowglobes with him, since he liked making the Valentine’s Day one. I didn’t want to make Santas, too many details, too much work for him right now, he’s not into crafts so much, he finds it too hard (he’s much into playing right now). So I decided to go with snowmen, since the plates are already white, all he had to do was paint a toque (knitted … Read entire article »

Easy cinnamon gift tag ornament
Remember those cinnamon Christmas ornaments we made? They were easy right? I turned one of them into gift tag for Nico’s German grand parents who are coming over for Christmas. All I did is, take one of the ornament and a use a silver pen to write on it. Done! I used a rolling ball silver marker first, it worked ok but the silver paint pen worked better and easier too. If you do this, we’d LOVE … Read entire article »

Around the World in 24 Merry Christmas (advent activity)
(Nov 29, 2012) I was gluing Nico’s Christmas calendar in his monthly book he just got and noticed it had a theme, so I thought I could come up with a theme one too… Kids like to learn new things, they always dig new languages so why not how to say Merry Christmas in 24 languages! A new one per day for 24 days, like you would an advent calendar. We are providing you with … Read entire article »

Cinnamon Christmas ornaments
On November 16, 2012, I saw this post on the Katey Elliott blog about lovely Christmas ornaments that my mother put on my Facebook wall (Thanks mom!). Since we are going with a rustic look this year, I thought these would just fit so well with our ornaments and Nico could actually have something he made in the Christmas tree this year, since he had done all the ornaments last year, I thought he should … Read entire article »

Glittery lollipop ornaments
Here is a pic Nico took of it himself after placing it in the tree. (26 months) Nov. 17, 2011, Nico was making all the ornaments that went into our tree that year so we made a lot! I didn’t just want to do cookie cutter ornaments so I came up with glittery lollipops. Now this was pre-blog era so I don’t have step by step photos, but I can tell you it’s really simple. I … Read entire article »

2 sided door hanger for preschooler
We got the shapes at the dollar store and I always grab little wood things for him to paint, he loves that. I grabbed those door hangers, thinking for later when he can read and use it properly. The other day he wanted to paint them so I said “ok, why not” and explained what they were for. He wanted black paint and cars, so I obliged and let him go. Of course the cars had … Read entire article »
Australia – Dot art paper plate turtle
This month “Around the World in 12 Dishes” Is going down under. Food wise all was good but craft wise I was totally uninspired, so I asked the group of mommy bloggers I’m part of and they came up with TONS of ideas. One that stuck with me was the Aboriginal dot art, because Nico loves to paint. Obviously at almost 3, I didn’t expect him to produce the same kind of art but we … Read entire article »
