I can’t believe it took me 12 years of living in San Diego before I finally made it to this museum. Located in beautiful and historic Balboa Park, The Nat is a fantastic way to spend a day with your kids, especially a hot summer day in a city where air conditioning [...]
Birch Aquarium at Scripps, located in La Jolla, offers a fantastic (and much more affordable) alternative to Sea World for families looking to explore Southern California’s marine life minus the crowds and shows. The aquarium, part of UCSD, is dedicated to education and conservation.
Much of the aquarium is indoors and air-conditioned. Tanks [...]
I’d been hearing about this place for months and finally decided to check it out. About 20 minutes drive north of San Diego (isn’t everything a 20 minute drive in San Diego?) and just off Interstate 5 this lush garden escape beckons. We left our house around 9:00 a.m. mid-week in July [...]

Well-known and a major attraction in Southern California, I recommend the San Diego Zoo. We debated it because of the price of the tickets. Our son getting in free (under 2) definitely helped, as did free parking and the decision to not eat at the zoo.
Ticket prices are $42 [...]
I am excited to be sharing a little bit about our recent adventure to the Oakland Zoo in California’s Bay Area. The zoo is not far from the city of San Francisco and a great day trip for kids of all ages. It is officially located in [...]
