One great summer activity is relaxing in an above-ground swimming pool. But it can be challenging to set up this facility if your backyard does not have level ground.
This piece informs you how to set up an above ground pool on unlevel ground.
Follow these steps when installing your above ground pool on uneven ground:
1. Pick a Site to Place Your Pool
You should avoid places with septic tanks, plumbing lines, concealed wiring, overhead wiring, and steep slopes.
2. Remove Sod from the Site
The second step teaches you how to level uneven ground. Take out sod from the site in an area about one foot larger than your pool’s diameter.
With the sod out, continue to dig on the higher side and regularly check whether the surface is even.
3. Place Filtered Sand
The next thing is to place this sand in the leveled ground. Create about a 2-inch layer and smooth it out using the board.
Consider placing the board at the center and then push it around in circular motion until the layer is leveled.
4. Pack the Sand Down
Water the sand using a garden hose and then create a tight, hard layer using a dirt tamper tool. Check to ensure that the ground is still level and add more sand if needed.
5. Assemble the Pool Walls
Follow the brand’s instructions when assembling the walls. They often vary from pool to pool, and following them can save you problems in the future.
6. Add More Sand
Add sand along the edges of the walls. Place more sand against these walls to create a 6-8 inch ramp around.
7. Place the Liner
Always start by unfolding the liner and leaving it outside for two to three hours to relax the creases and wrinkles. Now you can take the flattened gear, stretch it over the pool walls, and drop it into the opening.
Use a nylon broom to press the liner down until it reaches the ground and touches all the walls. Remember to smooth any wrinkles.
8. Add Water to the Pool
Use your garden hose to add a 2-inch of water into the pool. Jump inside and use your feet and hands to smooth out the wrinkles that might be remaining in the liner.
Have someone outside the pool who can pull the liner to remove bubbles and creases if necessary.
9. Add More Water
Fill your pool to about 2-inch below the pump or skimmer holes. Get a knife to create a hole through the liner where you will install the pump or skimmer fixture.
10. Set the Fixture
Follow the manufacturer’s instructions when setting your pool skimmer and pump into the right place.
11. Assemble the Top Rail
You might need to fix the rails to bracket outside your swimming pool or snap them to the top wall, which depends on the pool you buy.
12. Fill More Water
Add more water until it reaches the middle of the skimmer’s opening. Now you can set the filter system and test it.
You should not ignore the importance of picking, preparing, and leveling the site for your above ground pool. It is crucial you do it right the first time to avoid above ground pool leveling problems in the future.
Your pool can never look right if you slack off or get it wrong the first time. Take your time and ensure you do it the right way or seek professional help that can guarantee you the desired results.
